Van Dyck : Adorno

  • Origin: Chiapas/Mexico
  • Price: ~ 30.4€/Kilo
  • Blend: 75% Arabica / 25% Robusta
  • Character: strong, spicy, blunt
Preparation

Ground with Rancillio Rocky S, prepared with Rancillio Silvia. Uses normal values, average grind works good, as well as normal extraction times. I liked pouring the shot a little longer.

Taste

Robusta + Taste. This blend weighs in heavily on the Robusta side, but still offers a greater taste range than a 100% robusta. The taste that is added is rather hard to describe. I'd say it's a lot of spice, a little earth and some fruity topping, which is rather hard to describe. It's still Robusta, it's still strong and will knock you off your socks if you don't expect it, but it has a neat, tasty touch added to it.

Would buy again ?

Yeah ! This is one of my all time favorite Robusta blends ! It works great as a Cappuccino and isn't annoying to drink as an Espresso. I would not order a 1 kilo bag tho ;)
